SDG Innovation Participatory Action Research Initiative
With just under ten years left to achieve the SDGs, world leaders at the SDG Summit in September 2019 called for a Decade of Action and delivery for sustainable development, and pledged to mobilize financing, enhance national implementation and strengthen institutions to achieve the Goals by the target date of 2030, leaving no one behind. As part of this global Agenda towards making our planet more sustainable and equitable, the UNDP SDGCC in the State of Nagaland also has taken responsible steps towards making the SDGs a reality for the state, the country and the world as a whole.
In Nagaland, six priority goals that have seen least progress among the 17 SDGs (Goal 2 – Zero Hunger, Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4 – Quality Education, Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, Gaol 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities) were identified and proposed to be included as part of the ‘SDG Innovation Participatory Action Research Initiative’. These goals have been further impacted due to the adverse effects of COVID-19. To ensure that these goals are given impetus and there is revival of the local economy post-COVID 19, locally relevant solutions which are innovative, are needed.
The ‘SDG Innovation Participatory Action Research Initiative’ was thus conceived with the idea of implementing innovative solutions that will contribute towards the achievement of the six priority SDGs (SDG-2,3,4,8,9 and 11) at the grassroots level.
