Butuan – Rourkela Connecting farmers and markets in local food systems
Two cities in Asia are trying to correct market inefficiencies, where locally produced food requires public intervention to arrive in better conditions to the local tables.
This webinar wants to explore these two experiences, in the framework of the new ”SDG local solutions” series, organized by UNDP.
Butuan, in the Philippines will present its Agriboost project, an agri-ecosystem innovation that enhances farmer capacities and catalyzes market forces for a sustainable, food-secure and vibrant community.
Rourkela, in India will introduce its Cold rooms project operated by women self-help groups to address the high rates of difficult conditions experienced by farmers and vendors, including exposure to extreme weather, multiple drivers of cost that reduce the viability of low-volume production as well as a marketplace void of clear market signals.
The session will be conducted in English only
